In a post on Recruiting Roundup (Corporate Executive Board), Emily Woods says, "Web user-generated content has changed the world of employment branding. People are saying things about our organizations for millions of Internet surfers to see, which can undermine a finely-crafted “formal” employment brand. But before we throw up our hands and wave goodbye to our past and future branding efforts, consider this: how credible are these online strangers to potential candidates?
Emily provides some good advice on how to respond to the changes WEB 2.0 delivers. To read the full post please click here>

From KODA's website
KODA launched its beta site on May 27, 2009. The initial release included a platform that allows emerging talent and smart companies to go beyond the resume or traditional job posting. More professional than Facebook but more personal than LinkedIn, KODA showcases talent profiles and employer profiles that allow both sides of the hiring equation to get to know each other.
When logged into KODA, users navigate around the site using the horizontal dashboard along the bottom of their browser’s window. The initial release included a Suggestions page, Messages page, and Bookmarks page. The Suggestions page showcases profiles that KODA’s recommendation engine thinks a specific user may find interesting. As users explore the site, they are able to send messages or bookmark profiles for future viewing. Incoming and outgoing messages are stored on the Messages page. Additionally, individuals have the capability of “waving” at an organization that they would like to stay in contact with; employers are notified of these “waves” on their Suggestions page.
On July 14, 2009, KODA launched new functionality that allows specific opportunities to be publicized on employers’ profiles. This technology automatically pulls jobs that are listed on employers’ internal careers pages and showcases them on KODA. Hiring managers can now promote opportunities to emerging talent in a format that provides needed context and elegant organization, but with very little extra time or maintenance. The July 2009 release also included more ways for employers to give talent a “look inside” their organization for a clearer picture of corporate culture and work environment.
KODA will be launching additional functionality as the beta period continues, including additional ways to publish opportunities, advanced search capability, and printable KODA profiles that truly replace the resume. KODA’s launch is focused on, but isn’t limited to, the Bay Area and New Orleans.
Why New Orleans?
New Orleans is in the midst of a transformation as it emerges after Hurricane Katrina. For the first time in over half a century, innovation and entrepreneurship are leading the way. People from around the world are moving to New Orleans to develop organizations that are as inspiring as they are profitable. The rich culture that made this city world-renowned is as strong as ever, and for the first time in decades, there is an emphasis on developing new industries and attracting young talent.
As a service that strives to offer diverse opportunities to the members of its community, KODA would be remiss if it did not use this platform to showcase the economic rebirth of New Orleans. The future of the city depends upon the innovative ideas and leadership of the emerging workforce.
